Olicana became an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) in 2022. This significant step means team members have a share in our success, driving us to push boundaries, deliver excellence, and shape the future of manufacturing together.
We actively invest in our team’s growth through an apprenticeship programme designed to give hands-on experience and real-world skills while learning from our expert engineers.
We make significant investments in the latest machinery, from laser cutting equipment to robot welding – improving the accuracy and productivity of our processes to deliver a premium standard of service for our customers.
Sustainable Manufacturing: Our Commitment
Olicana has an active programme of energy reduction. Our newly installed solar panels fulfil 12% of our energy requirements in the form of renewable energy. As part of our sustainability efforts, we retrofitted our original factory with high performance lighting and insulation to lower energy consumption. We further installed automatic roller shutter doors to reduce heat loss and efficiency throughout the factory.
In addition to recycling 100% of our steel, we collaborate closely with our clients to minimise packaging – ensuring an all-encompassing approach to reducing our environmental footprint. Our latest acquisition is an all-electric van for local, smaller deliveries aimed at reducing emissions.
Explore Our History
1947
Olicana started in Addingham crafting motorcycle windscreens. This small, specialist factory was powered by a water wheel on the River Wharfe in the 1940s.
1967
Young engineer, Henry Pearson, bought Olicana and set it on the path to growth.
1982
Olicana relocated to Ilkley under Henry’s direction, tripling capacity.
1984
Patrick Lang became Managing Director, taking over from Henry Pearson. Olicana secured contracts with Ideal Standard and other key bathroom companies.
1996
Henry Pearson’s son, Rupert, acquired the company, driving innovation and focusing on next generation machinery. By building customer partnerships grounded in trust and reliability, Olicana has diversified and thrived over the last 30 years.
Today
Under the leadership of Managing Director, Dan Greenwood, and chairman, Rupert Pearson, the company has evolved from a mid-sized supplier into a national leader in advanced metal fabrication. Their journey is one of vision, resilience and strategic investment in cutting edge machinery and industry expertise.
